Wendy Brandts
(1960 - 2022)

Fiction Writer and Physicist

I began writing at the age of five after the shock of realizing that the world is ever changing. I crafted poems about little mice dancing beneath the stars then becoming the dust of the universe.

I became a physicist in a quest to grasp the fundamentals of time, change, causality, and life. Though I didn't find all the answers I'd hoped for, I did get to explore many rich ideas which now find their way into my fiction.

My work is coloured by awe and terror - of the complexity of life, love and motherhood, ambition and loss, and the overpowering conflicts between our minds and our hearts. We are often smart enough to discern what's real. But frightened enough to choose delusion.
